About Us

Experiencing God through worship is one of the most vital aspects of life as a believer.Brushy Fork Baptist Church was originally called Philadelphia Baptist Church and was founded February 26, 1858 in a small schoolhouse located about one mile southwest of the present church building. The aim for this new congregation was for local families to come together for worship and service of Jesus Christ.

The first church building was a log structure erected in 1860. Then in 1889 another building was built, this one being located where the present building now stands. Five Sunday School rooms were added to this building during the 1930’s. The present structure was constructed in 1949 and the educational portion was added in the 1960’s. Major improvements to the present church building have been made through the years, one being the parsonage in 1956.

Brushy Fork Baptist Church joined the Three Forks Baptist Association at their annual meeting in August 1858 and remains an active Southern Baptist Church within this association today. Participation within the association speaks of our commitment to a unified purpose in Watauga county and that is the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Today Brushy Fork has multiple Bible studies, ministries and mission opportunities yet experiencing God through worship is one of the most vital aspects of life of a believer. We invite you to join us as we seek to worship God and our desire is to have a worship service that moves you to a deeper relationship with the Father.

Brushy Fork Baptist Church is pastor led, deacon served, committee organized, and church approved. We are part of the Southern Baptist Convention. All Southern Baptist churches are autonomous but choose to work together to train and send out workers to spread the Gospel on a local, state, national and international level.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

Richie and I came to Brushy Fork Baptist Church during a difficult time in our lives. We were searching for a new church home and the people of Brushy welcomed us with open arms. They continue to be kind and loving! We are so proud to call them our church family but, most importantly, we love that the Word of God is embraced and taught at Brushy Fork.

Johnny and I joined Brushy Fork because every time we visited we were always welcomed with open arms.  When we were there it felt like one big family and we were taken in as if we had always been there. Our children also had activities for each of their age groups that they absolutely loved being a part of.  The Lord didn't take long to tell us that this is where our family needed to be.
